Belize Day Four:

Woke up today at about 5am this morning to a series of fireworks. Apparently there is a festival going on for the entire time that we are here and they shoot off fireworks randomly throughout the evening and start back up again at 5am. Let's just say I was not very happy this morning hearing them right outside my window. Got out of bed at around 7 to go get breakfast that was provided for us at our hotel. It was french toast and fruit that was the best toast I have ever had and it was worth getting up for.
After breakfast, we got ready and started the day by going to the Mango Village. It is a very poor village that needs lots of help. Today we helped out by putting in some stoves. We worked in a big group at first which was hard because of the little space we had to work with but we managed to form a good big team to finish the first job. After that stove we had lunch. For lunch we had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches that had either bread or a tortilla and the tortilla was so good! We also had BBQ chips. Finishing up lunch, we went to our next stove installment. When we got there, we found out that the Kenyan group had bought that one and decided to do it themselves. After they were done, we headed out in our divided groups to get two more stoves done quickly. Ours took a little bit more time because we had to move a lot of stuff and to cut and dig to make sure everything fitted well with the stove.
Today we also saw a dog with a badly cut nose that I really wanted to help it but did not know how or if I even could. In America, they say how badly dogs are treated there and how we need to help them. They clearly have not seen the rest of the world and their struggle with animals. I really want to help the animals out as much as I do with the humans because it is worst than I thought. After finishing the stoves for today, had at dinner at this pasta place that was outstanding. Of course we had pasta. I had the alfredo that was the best I believe I have ever had. For desert, we had some kind of banana with some honey I believe that was delicious as well. Me and a group of friends went to Burger King that was across the bridge to get a friend a little something to eat.
After that, we went to see what all was in town and see what the festival was like. The festival was sweet! There were bands playing and people dancing and having a great time and it gives me joy to see that people are happy here. The people here are just so full of life and joy and are very accepting to others even though most of us do not speak Spanish. Tomorrow we are going to finish up the stoves and replace some batteries for the people in the Village.
